2026 PAIU Day on the Hill

We are pleased to announce that this year's PAIU Day on the Hill Day will be held on Tuesday, March 24 in Harrisburg. This day is designed to facilitate IU leaders visiting with state legislators at the Capitol to advocate for our legislative priorities. During this opportunity, we also seek to establish and strengthen personal relationships with legislators and their staff members.

Why Advocate?

  • Educate legislators and their staff to help them better understand the work and value of Pennsylvania’s 29 intermediate units
  • Educate legislators and their staff on the work and value of their local intermediate unit overall and within Pennsylvania’s educational structure.
  • Increased ability to make progress on PAIU's legislative priorities with a united message.
  • Build positive relationships through education and storytelling.

Some ideas for connecting with legislators include:

  • Attend Day on the Hill
  • Invite legislator to visit IU-operated classrooms
  • Visit legislator in their district office
  • Schedule virtual meeting with legislator
  • Sponsor legislative roundtable discussion
  • Send written communication to legislator
  • Connect (phone, e-mail, visit) with staff members of the legislator
  • Invite legislator to Superintendent Advisory Council (SAC) Meeting
  • Schedule meetings with your lawmakers to discuss our funding & local legislative asks
