Advancing Education Professionals 

Every year, more than 52,000 educators are trained by intermediate units through various forms of professional development. As the statewide association of intermediate units, PAIU supports and expands upon professional development efforts by offering the PAIU Annual Conferencelegislative advocacy guidance and development, and various conferences and learning opportunities aimed at assisting IU leaders and staff in performing their specific roles.

Professional Development 

Great school leaders and classroom teachers are essential if our students are to achieve and succeed in our highly competitive global economy. Every year, IUs deliver high quality training and professional development for school administrators and teachers in such critical areas as:

  • Positive Behavior Intervention for 12,000 educators

  • Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics (STEM) for 9,500 educators

  • Technology Integration for 6,500 educators

  • Student Data Analysis for 6,000 educators

  • Curriculum Development for 6,000 educators

  • School Safety & Crisis Planning – 4,500 educators

  • Substitute Teachers Certified – 2,000

  • Educator Certifications Issued – 1,600
